Application:
Because of its outstanding physical, thermal and electricalproperties, especially its moderate cost, PPA resin has a widerange of applications. Together with excellent chemical resistance,these properties make PPA a candidate for many uses in theautomotive industry. The trend towards better aerodynamic bodydesign, together with higher performance motors, will increase thetemperature of the engine case, making the traditionalthermoplastics seem unsuitable. These new requirements make PPAbecome one of the candidate materials for manufacturing thefollowing components: automobile headlamp reflector, bearing seat,pulley, sensor housing, fuel pipeline components and electricalcomponents.
The development direction of electrical components isminiaturization and high-temperature consolidation, such asinfrared consolidation and vapor phase consolidation, whichrequires the superior performance of PPA. Flame retardant PPA hasexcellent electrical properties, high HDT value, highhigh-temperature bending modulus, and can process thin wall partswith small overflow, so it is suitable for manufacturingswitchgear, connectors, brush holders and motor brackets.
Mineral filler grade PPA is used for reflective surfaces andmetal-plated applications, including automotive headlights,decorative pipe fittings and hardware. The unreinforced impactmodified PPA has better balanced mechanical properties and hightemperature properties. It has high toughness and these propertiesare slightly affected by humidity. Its uses include oil fieldcomponents, military products, sports goods, fan impellers andgears, and personal safety products.
